Gabriel Urias was born and raised in Shafter, California — a small, rural farming community in the Central Valley. The proud son of two immigrant parents from Mexico, he grew up understanding firsthand the challenges, sacrifices, and dreams that immigrant families carry with them.

That personal connection to the immigrant experience is what drives his practice. Licensed since October 2014, Attorney Urias has dedicated his career to fighting for the rights of underrepresented immigrant communities — and has been serving the San Diego immigrant community since his law school days in 2010.

EN As a Staff Attorney for the ACLU of San Diego, Attorney Urias worked on the implementation of the landmark federal class action lawsuit Lopez-Venegas v. Johnson — a historic case against the Department of Homeland Security that exposed how Border Patrol and ICE agents were using deception and coercion to pressure immigrant families into signing their own deportation orders. The case resulted in a sweeping settlement that forced major reforms to protect immigrants' due process rights across Southern California.
